Un-Plannned Saturday

This was just what I wanted to do today (ya, right). I got a call this morning at 8:30am that the sweet corn was ready to be picked. I really thought I had at least another week before this call. At about 10a.m. we went to pick it. Got home about an hour later with a pick-up load of sweet corn. Mom and Rayna(sister) were here. They helped us shuck the corn and then they left around 12 p.m. to take Brandon (my son) to stay the night with my mom. I was sure grateful for the help. I went in the house and started cleaning the corn(refer to pictures below). My daughter Liz had a few friends over and their mom came to pick them up at about 4.pm. Diana(friends mom) was nice enough to offer to stay and help clean and cut some more corn for about 45 min. I was again very grateful for the help. It is now almost 12 a.m. and I am just finishing the last bit. Trying to bag up the last bit. My feet are way swollen and feel like they could fall off at any moment. I sure wish I would have went to bed before 4 a.m. this morning so, I would have been better prepared for the day. This was not how I wanted to spend my Saturday. I really wanted to get some more work done on the basement. Never the less, I am happy to have corn and it was kind of nice it got done before school started. We usually don't get corn until the end of August. So I am calling it a day, after I mop the floor and clean the counters. This is such a messy job but, Oh so worth it. I just wouldn't have these pleasures if I did not live in Nebraska. Anyways, this is what Nebraska and country livin' is all about. Half of the town was probably putting up corn today. To all ya out there, you just don't know what you are missin'. They don't sell this stuff in the grocery stores and if they do it's gonna cost ya and surely won't be this fresh. I still have to get our church clothes ready for tomorrow. So to all, have a corny night. Cleaning the corn
bagging the corn.
cooking the corn.
Cutting the corn. I know the photos are out of order please forgive me. I'm tired and it's late.
