Our basement renovations

Another day of mudding and sanding in the basement. I've been at this part of the job for about a month now. There are days it seems never ending. My awesome brother-in-law decided to build some rooms in our basement. He and a few guys from church built these two rooms in 5 days (isn't he amazing). The job left for me was to finish the mud-ding, sanding, and the painting. Wish I could have nominated myself for one of the other jobs. There are nights I dream of drywall fairies coming to visit me with spakle knifes and sandpaper in hand singing whistle while you work do-dee-do-do-do-do. Then I wake from my dream and all is done. Okay back to reality. So, today was a reality day. I spent about 4hours mud-ding today, in between doing laundry, taking care of baby and fixin' meals and then cleaning up after meals. My two older kids have been a great big help. At least, Liz has been. She does have a motive. One of these rooms will become hers. Right now sharing with her two younger sisters is not her idea of fun. I know it is hard for her. The two younger ones are in her art stuff and smaller toys and lets not forget about her lip-gloss and nail polish and then she is the one to blame because she didn't put it up. Those two little ones are quick. It only takes a moment for a tornado to rip through our house. I now have one room primed and painted. The closet in that room has some problems so I still haven't finished that. Liz's b-day is on september 11th and she asked if her room could be her b-day present. I am trying to make that happen. We will see how that goes. I have all these wonderful ideas for her room. The great thing is, she said, she does not want to see her room until her b-day. A surprise. I'm surprised also, that she has so much faith in my decorating skills that shes going to let me do whatever I want. The only thing she does know about is the color choices. I hope she will love it. The other room I am going to use as a studio. I can not tell you how long I have been dreaming about a place to work that has a door so, I can shut it while I have projects going and my kids won't be able to get into stuff. A room of my own I can hardly wait. Right now it looks like a giant box from Tiffany's. I did have a few set backs. Rachael(3 year old) decided to help one day. I had to tend to baby one day and left the primer and roller out and Rachael wanted to be my little fairy for the day and slapped primer all over the walls. She was not happy with her work later and ripped the paper from the drywall. I'm talking a 4 foot by 4 foot space with globs of primer dried on and paper shredded everywhere.
It took me two days to fix that problem. We all learn from our mistakes. I know I'll never leave primer open again. The funniest part of this story is that no one ever would have known she was down there had she not left little white foot prints all over the carpet. Those are the days I realize what a joy it is to be a mother ( a little sarcasm for everyone). Stay tune, I will be posting more pic's of the rooms while I work on them. My goal is to have them ready for carpet in two weeks. Let's see how it goes. Then I want to post some before and after pic's. It's gettin' late so I'm signing off. Yes, that is my husband in the bottom picture trying to help me with Rachael's mess. I just had it and he knew it, so he thought he would pitch in for a bit.
